Clear your computer's memory of your online browsing activity:

After you browse the web, copies of all pages you visit and images you view are saved on your computer's memory. While these copies make subsequent visits to the same sites faster, the storage of this browsing record has serious implications for personal privacy, particularly if you share a computer or browse at work. You can delete most of your online trail by doing the following:

  1. Click on "edit" in your browser;
  2. Scroll down to "preferences";
  3. Click on "empty cache" button.

Sometimes this option is in the "advanced" menu of the browser preferences. In Internet Explorer, go to "internet options" from the "tools" menu and click on "clear history." For an animated demonstration of how to clear your cache, visit the Privacy Toolbox.
