The ConsumerPrivacyGuide web site is sponsored by several organizations.

Call For Action, Inc. (CFA) is an international, nonprofit network of consumer hotlines founded in 1963. Volunteer professionals in offices around the world are trained to assist consumers through mediation and education to resolve problems with businesses, government agencies and other organizations. CFA's services are free, confidential and available to individuals and small businesses.

The Center for Democracy and Technology works to promote democratic values and constitutional liberties in the digital age. With expertise in law, technology, and policy, CDT seeks practical solutions to enhance free expression and privacy in global communications technologies. CDT is dedicated to building consensus among all parties interested in the future of the Internet and other new communications media.

Common Cause is a nationwide citizen's lobbying organization working for open, honest, and accountable government at the federal, state, and local levels. Common Cause leads the fight for passage of campaign finance reforms and strong ethics laws, serves as a government watchdog, and promotes citizen participation in government.

Consumer Action is a non-profit, membership-based organization that was founded in San Francisco in 1971. Since then, Consumer Action has served consumers nationwide by: advancing consumer and privacy rights; referring consumers to complaint-handling agencies through its free multilingual hotline; distributing educational materials in Chinese, English, Korean, Tagalog, Russian, Vietnamese and other language through a national network of more than 6,500 community based organizations; and, advocating on behalf of consumers in the media and before lawmakers and regulators.

The National Consumers League, the nation's oldest consumer organization, is a private, nonprofit advocacy group representing consumers on marketplace and workplace issues. NCL provides government, businesses and other organizations with the consumer's perspective on concerns including child labor, food safety, medication information and privacy. NCL's mission is to identify, protect, represent and advance the economic and social interests of consumers and workers, using education, science, investigation, publications, and the public and private sector to accomplish that mission.

The Privacy Rights Clearinghouse (PRC) is a nonprofit consumer education, research and advocacy program established in 1992. It is based in San Diego, California. The purposes of the PRC include raising consumers' awareness of how technology affects personal privacy; empowering consumers to take action to control their own personal information; responding to specific privacy-related complaints from consumers, communicating consumers' concerns about privacy to policymakers, industry representatives and consumer advocates; and advocating for consumers' privacy rights before state, local and federal governments.
